We decided to do a little belated leaf-peeping today. We just have not had much time for scenic drives this semester, so most of the leaves are already turned and have fallen off the trees, but there are still a good many pretty ones out there.
We started off into the country as the sun was going down. We saw deer everywhere, and we pulled off the road several times so the girls could get a good look at them.
We pulled over one more time to get some pictures of a pasture with cows and deer both grazing. Just as we were about to drive away, we noticed a bright line gleaming over the top of some trees. We thought maybe it was the sun shining on the roof of a barn, and just as we were starting to drive away, we turned and looked again, and realized it was the moon!
It was coming up so fast, that if you sat there and just stared at it, it seemed like you could actually feel the world turning. In a matter of five minutes or less, the moon that started as a little sliver of light, was up above the trees. It was just so perfectly round and big and bright and beautiful… it really was amazing.
Praise ye the LORD.
Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights.
Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.
Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.
Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.
